1
This might be obvious, but put your firelighters with some kindling in the centre of the fireplace and light it up.
2
If you’re starting the fire in
a closed fireplace, make sure that the damper (it’s a little lever that controls airflow) is open to get the fire to take.
3
When there’s a flame, place your Good Wood logs on top of this. (Remember to snap them to size if you need to.)
4
Once your logs are on, close the fireplace door and adjust the damper to your preferred setting, but don’t close it completely – otherwise you’ll smother the flames, which is not ideal.
5
Add Good Wood as needed. Don’t be dramatic and overfill the fireplace. Filling 2/3 of the burn chamber is plenty.
6
We made the Good Wood, but not your fireplace. Always follow your fireplace/stove manufacturer’s instructions as well to avoid overheating.
Care of Your Good Wood
Be nice to your Good Wood by storing it in a cool, dry place. Remember, the logs are made from compressed sawdust, which doesn’t work well with moisture or water. Not even Good Wood can burn after getting wet. It’s Good, not magic.
